Are we returning to some ‘old fashioned’ principles? Buying small and local from businesses with values? What is the future of fashion?

Simply feed the longer strap through the shorter one to create the handle!
Each made with two gorgeous vintage fabrics, they can be reversed so you get two bags in one
They make lovely gifts

THE BAGS
Introducing a new collection of roomy, lightweight shoulder bags!
With a slouchy, relaxed silhouette and adjustable tie straps, these comfy bags can be worn over the shoulder, across the body or tied with a shorter length and hand held. They feature a contrast lining and could be used inside out if that takes your fancy!
All fabrics are vintage and each bag is one of a kind
A/W 20

THE HAND-PAINTED COLLECTION #1
The first collection in a new series of completely unique, hand-painted garments!
This mini collection features geometric pops of colour that are painted onto vintage fabrics to create totally unique, one of a kind pieces
Pattern pieces are cut before the design is hand-painted on to the fabric so that the motifs can be placed with consideration on to the garment
The paints used are professional textile paints that are heat set to allow for hand washing
This first collection of wearable art launches on Friday 18th June at 2pm!

THE WAISTCOAT
NEW GARMENT!
A brilliant transitional piece, the waistcoat is an excellent layer for adding interest, colour, print (and warmth) to an outfit. This new design has deep armholes so it can be worn over statement sleeves or a chunky knit and has self fabric ties at the front. The waistcoat is also a great way to get longevity out of your existing garments, try it with your dresses for a different vibe - you can cinch it in with a belt or wear it loose. To give you even more versatility, I’ve made it reversible so you get two looks in one. Shown here in the Blue Dash wool and Yellow Circo, they are available made to order in many fabric options- choose your combo! Get in touch for more info or to place an order via the button below

Adorn with Attitude in NPB
What a thrill to receive these fabulous images from super talented chick Luna aka @adornwithattitude. I sent her some pieces from the collection to style up and shoot and I’m loving the results! Spot the new cropped jacket, coming in the Autumn!
THE CARNIVAL COLLECTION
I firstly want to send a message to all my lovely and valued customers- I’m sad to not be seeing you at events or at the studio this Spring but I hope you are all well, staying safe and coping with what is becoming our strange new reality. This new collection’s joyful prints might just lift your spirits in these unsettled times, please get in touch if you’d like some happy post sent out to you!
I’m very fortunate that my studio is in my house so I can keep on creating whilst staying at home. I will limit trips to my (very local) post office to once every fortnight at most.
Keep an eye out for the new garments; as well as the gorgeous puff sleeve top and frock, I’ll be introducing the wide legged trouser/culotte and the lightweight coat, (although these will be only be available as one off pieces until I can get out fabric hunting again…..)
Orders can be discussed via the contact button below, I can send out fabric swatches and offer advice as to fabric suitability and garment fit. I make your item either to the standard sizes (see individual garment pages via the button below) or from your measurements. It’s really straightforward, a quick email exchange and you can have your own bespoke piece winging it’s way to you. Or if you prefer, I can take pre-orders and send items out later in the season when, hopefully the situation has improved.
I also have a small collection in stock, including most of what is pictured here. Please message me to see what I have ready to go. I’m currently offering free postage and returns on all items.
And don’t forget about NPB if you have gifts to buy! I have a selection of head and neck scarves in stock or I can make to order in a wide choice of fabrics. I also sell gift vouchers for any amount or for a specific garment and can post directly to the recipient.
Keep well, keep positive and remember to dress happy (it helps!)
THE PUFF SLEEVE!
Deep set, voluminous sleeves that gather at the shoulder. Elasticated cuffs allow you to push up the sleeve and adjust the ‘puff’!
This new design comes with a flattering boat neck and is available for both tops and frocks in selected fabrics

    Fast vs SLOW
Recently I found myself sheltering from torrential rain in a well known high street store. They had a sale on and I was shocked at the volume of ‘leftover’ clothing and depressed at the thought of where it would all end up. It made me appreciate my lovely customers all the more - those who put in the extra effort to shop small and slow rather than fast and furious.
Rather than grabbing an armful of discounted clothes, they come to my studio to discuss the best garments for them, ones that will give longevity. It’s a more considered purchase. Rather than an impersonal exchange at the till, far removed from the factory where the clothes are made, it’s meeting with the designer, the maker, the source. Or rather than a quick click and buy online, we have a discussion over email - it’s a more personal and rewarding connection.
Here are some wonderful messages from customers who put in that extra effort and will hopefully enjoy their NPB pieces for a long time to come. Happy customers is what it’s about for me- not selling mountains of clothes that won’t be cherished.
XMAS at NPB!
Have you pledged to shop small this Xmas? Buying from independent businesses is a great way to gift this festive season- for uniqueness, quality and for feel good factor, plus having a connection with the designer/maker/artist/craftsperson is so much more rewarding than shopping with major brands, don’t you think?
The new Skinny Scarves make lovely gifts and as well as the Headscarves are available gift boxed. There are reclaimed leather clutch bags available and of course many options for that party outfit (Sputnik or Luna for a bit of sparkle?) or Xmas day dress (maybe a comfy shift dress with room for that extra mince pie?!)
Or if in doubt, there’s always the NPB Gift Voucher!

THE EMPORIUM!
The Studio Circle was formed over a year ago when I wanted to find like minded, local creatives who work alone. We’ve been meeting every month to discuss the frustrations and joys of running a small business, supporting and encouraging each other along the way.
Our first joint event, The Herne Hill Emporium will bring you unique gifts, fashion, jewellery, prints, homewares, art, photography and children’s wear all produced in South London
Come and chat to the designers at our weekend pop up- find special items not usually found on the high street and shop local, sustainable and small!
We will be at STATION HALL, above Herne Hill Station (10 mins from Victoria or Blackfriars)
Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September / 12-5pm

TREASURE HUNTING!
I often describe my fabric buying sessions as ‘Treasure Hunting’
It’s increasingly hard to source unused, still on the roll, gorgeous, high quality vintage fabrics, so when I find them, they feel like rare treasures!
Also, by sourcing fabrics already in existence, I am avoiding any harmful manufacturing and reducing waste, which makes them even more precious
Watch this space or follow me on Instagram for new additions to the fabric collection or get in touch with any requests. Swatches can be sent out on request.
